About

Two years ago I decided I wanted to change my diet and lifestyle and become healthier. I wanted the change to stick so I started making changes to what I ate and drank a little at a time.

First I gave up Pop for lent. Having been a die-hard Pepsi addict, that was the hardest part. But after I made it through that sacrifice, I decided I would continue and give up something else. So I stopped eating beef, going with mostly chicken and fish and started cooking more and eating out less. During that time (about 6 months), I started researching eating a balanced diet. I knew I needed to add more fruits and vegetables to my diet and I’d always wanted to try being vegetarian but just never committed to it. I decided to try it but started slowly with one day a week meatless. After another 3 months I did 2-days a week meatless and cut back on pork and chicken.

I found that the less meat I ate, the better I felt, the less I wanted to eat meat. It was actually not as hard as I thought it would be and my body actually liked it. On March 14, 2010 I officially switched to a completely vegetarian diet. I occasionally blogged about it in my other Geek blog. But those posts has nothing to do with being Geek (which I am, completely).

Last month (Dec 18, 2010) I gave up cheese and after 10 months of being vegetarian, I’m now on a quest to be vegan. So I moved all my vegetarian posts to this blog and decided to start writing more to encourage my road to a better healthier me.
